And our name? We’re glad you asked. Our founders met in France, and in French, “conteur” means storyteller. It felt like the perfect fit – and let’s be honest, ‘Conteur’ just has a certain je ne sais quo, non?
History: The Founders
Gillian Davies
A former broadcast journalist and weather presenter for ITV, Gillian’s deep knowledge of the media landscape was a key driver in the creation of Conteur. She is a Director at the agency and has played a significant role in the growth of its award-winning video production team. Gillian’s passion for journalism also extends to managing crisis communications for clients, and her current goal is to ensure Conteur continues to produce outstanding visual content and tell powerful stories.
David Huckerby
With over 20 years of experience in the health and social care sector, David has held various positions, including Registered Manager for a Home Care Agency. His expertise and passion for this industry were a major motivation for launching Conteur. As a Director, David has a keen interest in agency life, including recruitment, retention, and culture and is passionate about supporting organisations with a social purpose, providing expert thought leadership in the health and social care sector. His current aspirations are to produce outstanding written and visual content for clients and to create a working environment where people are proud to work.

Beginning its journey as a public relations (PR) firm, Conteur has grown over 14 years to become a full-service creative communications agency.
